Here's a quick guide to help you make the most of your travel planning experience:
"Big Trips"
What is a "big" trip?
This is subjective, but I categorize any trip as "big" if you're looking for a specific experience or traveling for a specific event or occasion.
Honeymoons, multi-generational or multi-family, bucket list or 5+ day trips fall under this category because there are so many moving parts.
Settle on your dates 12 months if not more as this gives us the best options for accommodations, pricing for airfare and any ticketed events or locations.
I will come alongside you and make sure we are focusing on the right things at the right times to ensure your trip is everything you want it to be.
This also gives you time to ensure everyone has their passports ready as well as allows you to budget better so you can afford this special trip.
Shorter Trips
Trips that are 1-3 months out.
Ideally, we'd connect as soon as you settle on dates, but I can usually find something that meets your preferences and budget with a few weeks notice.
Again, the more lead time the better for the best selection and pricing, but I do have many resources and suppliers I can look into to find the right place for you.
Sometimes we can get deals, but remember that whenever you book with me, I'm already watching for any promotions that can be applied to your trip.
Cruising
Cruise itineraries are usually released 18 months in advance.
The best time to book is as soon as you have dates and a destination in mind. This gives us the best options of staterooms in your preferred category.
Booking in December-January is ideal because you usually know any school calendars before then as well as find great rates for international flights.
If you're super flexible, these trips are a great value as most of your food and entertainment are included in the price as well as your accommodation.
Airline Tickets
As prices go up, you need to be strategic when you look for and buy tickets.
ONLY look in an "incognito" window and NEVER sign in while you're looking for prices. As soon as they "know" you're looking, they'll raise prices.
The best time to buy is 2-3 months prior for most airlines. Southwest is best to buy the day the fares are released.
Always buy direct from the carrier! With so many things changing, this is the best way to ensure you get the best opportunity for help and rebooking should it become necessary.
