To Stop or Not To Stop: Do you really need to stop front desk?

Here are a few factors to consider that might help you decide whether to drop by or skip the desk on your way out.

Many hotels offer express checkout services, allowing you to check out digitally through an app, an in-room TV, or via email. This convenient option eliminates the need to physically stop at the front desk. If you’ve pre-authorized your credit card for incidentals and don’t need to settle any outstanding balances, express checkout can save you time.


Tip: If the hotel offers this service, you’ll often find a note under your door on the morning of your departure or a digital receipt sent to your email.


2.  Ensuring Accuracy

If you’ve incurred any additional charges during your stay, such as dining in the hotel restaurant, using the minibar, or booking spa services, it can be helpful to review your final bill before leaving. Stopping by the front desk gives you the chance to confirm that all charges are accurate and avoid any surprises later on.


Tip: If you notice an unexpected charge, it’s easier to resolve the issue in person rather than having to handle it via email or phone later.


3. Room Key Return
